The hall was quiet. No one dared to breathe. Instead they all stared at the young man who stood alone. He in his turn stared straight ahead and did not back away. The tension was felt throughout the room until laughter broke the silence. The king got up from his throne and strode down to the man. He held his sword to man’s throat and smiled.
“You want the princess?”
The man tried to seem even taller.”Yes.”
The king watched him a bit more and then nodded.
A man came running. The king whispered something and the man ran out of the hall while the king went back to sit on his throne. There was once more silence. The king looked back at his daughter who stood behind him. Her eyes did not leave the young man’s face.
“Bloody hell!” Terem swore as it started to rain. One week ago he had bravely stood before the king and asked for Princess Lara’s hand in marriage. And now, and now he was hunting down a dragon to show his worth. A dragon! He would be so lucky if he died at once, but then he would do anything to win Lara so he rode on, day after day, in rain and in winds that almost threw him off his horse. All the way up north to where the dragon would be found.
This was the day he died. He took his sword and prayed to the 7 gods before sneaking into the cave. He knew where to strike the dragon in case he got lucky and he felt his heart jump up in his throat from the sudden fear. The dragon lay further in, big, no huge and green. And it slept, no, it was awake! Terem shouted a battlecry and attacked. The dragon was too big, to clumsy in the small space and he almost got a good hit. The dragon bled all over him and roared until Terem thought his eardrums were breaking.
“Die your beast!” He got another hit before the tall threw him at the wall. He coughed and tried to get on his feet but the dragon was angry now and pinned him to the wall between two claws.
“Who sent you?” It asked and Terem stared in shock.
“The King, King Josua.”
The dragon roared again and Terem did his best to shield his ears. Then it lowered its head and Terem only saw one big green eye. He already knew it was intelligent but this time he saw sorrow in its eyes. And right there he knew he could not kill this dragon.
there is more, but I will end it there. Perhaps you will get part 2 and find out why the dragon is sad, or if he kills it. I am lazy today
