Thou shalt serve thy Goddess
She was blessed by the Moon Goddess and she has served her Goddess all her life. But she would serve her no more. Anger and resentment burned deep in the put of her stomach and her hands shook. She tried to steady them but all she wanted to do was the hit the High Priestess.
“Why was I never told?” Selene asked and tried to sound calm.
The High Priestess just smiled and told her that it was not their praxis to tell the younglings about how the Elders served the Goddess. How they every full moon put on mere veils and waited in the temple to serve any man, or woman for that matter who wanted pleasure. Whoring for the great goddess.
“If I was to say no?”
The High priestess suddenly changed and looked angry.”You will serve the Mother, afterwards you may leave, but first you will serve.”
Selene put on her best smile.” I did not mean to anger you my lady, I just wondered. I am ready to serve.”
The high Priestess smiled again and after a little talk Selene was free to leave. She had been given new quarters so that she would not tell the younglings anything. But then most of those were in the rural temples learning. Here only novices could be found. Novices on the verge of womanhood.
Selene spent the next few days thinking things over. But what she did know was that she did not want to end up like her mother. Her mother may have been a real whore but so would Selene be. Just she would not even get paid. Instead she would honor the Goddess by giving men her body.
“No thank you,” she muttered as she tried on the stupid veils that covered nothing. She left her room and could see other priestesses already taking men into their rooms. She felt that hollow feeling grow inside of her and hurried out into the temple. Think, think! Then she smiled and went to a woman in red who looked totally lost. The woman smiled shyly and Selene gestured to a corner.
“Let me try your coat first,” Selene whispered and the woman quickly obliged. “Wait here. Close your eyes and someone will take you to my quarters.” She felt bad but then the woman was daft for falling for it. She hurried away, and with one last look she left the temple. No one stopped her in her new fine red coat, hiding those pesky veils.
yes I know, she got lucky there, but had to get her out somehow ;)
