The Lights
by Blodeuedd

There was a shimmer around the book Roina was reading. At first she did not notice it since she was so absorbed in her book. But the glowing would not stop. She was annoyed at first because she thought her friends were playing a trick on her, or perhaps the sun was shining funny down on her. Soon she was so annoyed that she put the book then. It was at that moment she noticed strange things hanging down from the trees. She stared at them for a while and saw small things fly around between them. She stood up and touched the things hanging down. They were like quicksilver between her fingers. The little flying things buzzed around her and she tried to swat them away with her hand. The buzzing grew louder and it felt like the things were pinching her. Then the things she was touching started to curl around her wrists. She started to scream and everything went dark.

Roina woke up alone in the forest. It felt like someone had knocked her over. She tried to remember what had happened but she could not.
“Oh my darling”.
The voice made her look around. Behind her stood a beautiful young man with silver hair. For some reason this struck her as odd, just as odd as his pointy ears were, and the wings of silver on his back. Her hands went to her own back but there was nothing there. It was strange.
“Do I know you?” she asked and he helped her up.
“Of course, we are married,” the man answered and smiled. His smile was soothing and when he hugged her she felt safe, if a bit strange still. “You fell and hit your head,” he said.” But you are safe now, always safe with me, my little darling.”
He took her hand and they started to walk, slowly through the woods. Everything was new, she knew nothing. That was wrong wasn’t it?
“I can’t remember anything,” she whispered.
He hugged her hand tightly. “ We will make new memories.”
“Why do I not have wings like you?”
He stopped and for a moment she saw something on his face. But then he was all sweet and kind again.
“Because you are special my darling.” He looked her in the eyes and all those strange thoughts she had drifted away. Soon she just smiled at him and laughed.

Done, a bit late though
